Background
Henry Ford Community College is located in Dearborn, Michigan, near Detroit. The college has one main campus and two satellite centers, serving a demographically diverse student body of approximately 25,000 students annually.
HFCC is committed to providing higher education to its diverse student population. The college’s mission is to help all students, particularly disadvantaged students, attain their educational goals. Over the last several years, the college has implemented programs that focus on improved student achievement, including Partners Plus, a student support program for under-represented and first-generation students seeking a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college; and the English Language Institute, a lab offering intensive language instruction. The college offers curriculum in areas including the liberal arts, sciences, math, and career and technical education. Students are able to pursue certificates or associate degree programs to help them reach their career goals or transfer to a four-year college.

HFCC’s goal is to effectively collect and analyze data to successfully evaluate programs and policies implemented to enhance student success. The college’s preliminary agenda includes:

- Developing effective innovative programs for the neediest and most challenged students
- Analyzing data to evaluate the effectiveness of courses and programs
- Linking Achieving the Dream goals and values to the accreditation process
