Wayne County Community College District

Background

Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) is a two-year community college with five campuses throughout Wayne County.  The District serves over 65,000 students annually.  Many of the students served by the District have been traditionally underrepresented in higher education, such as low-income, minority, and first generation college students.

WCCCD is committed to helping students achieve their educational and career goals and helping prepare a highly skilled workforce that meets local demands.  Recently, the college has implemented additional programs to help students succeed, such as partnerships with local high schools encouraging students to take college credits. WCCCD offers courses in the liberal arts, sciences, math, and career education. Students are able to choose from over 90 associate degrees or certificates in order to prepare to transfer to a four-year college, enter the workforce or upgrade their current job skills.

Achieving the Dream Goals

Wayne County Community College District’s goal is to develop a culture of evidence that emphasizes effective data analysis in order to evaluate newly implemented programs and strategies to help students succeed. During the first year of the initiative, the college plans to:

  • Improve institutional research capacity in order to better track student outcomes
  • Upgrade the process of using data to inform institutional decision-making
  • Incorporate Achieving the Dream values and goals in preparing for re-accreditation

WCCCD is ready to implement systematic transformation that will help all students succeed.
