Rose State College Profile

Background

Rose State College is located in Midwest City, Oklahoma. More than 8,200 students attend the college, thirty-five percent of whom are minorities. Many students are from low-income families and are first-generation college students. Over 74 percent of first-time students require at least one developmental course.

Rose State College is committed to increasing student success. As a student-centered institution, the college offers many programs and services to help students successfully navigate college, such as peer mentoring services, academic and student affairs guidance and multiple orientations providing valuable information to new students and their families. The college offers programs in the liberal arts, math and science, computer technology, and vocational training. Students are able to earn associate degrees or certificates to transfer to a four-year college or prepare for the job market.

Achieving the Dream Goals

Rose State College’s goal is to effectively use data to implement programs and policies that have an impact on student success. During their first year in the initiative, the college plans to:

  • Develop program-specific student cohorts
  • Expand high school outreach programs
  • Increase data driven decisions within the organizational structure of the college
  • Incorporate additional student support services

Data will inform, support, and enhance institutional change that will help create a more effective learning environment for all students. It is the overarching goal of Rose State College to have all students successfully complete courses and graduate.
