Tulsa Community College Profile

Background

Tulsa Community College is a two-year community college with four campuses located strategically throughout the Tulsa area. TCC serves approximately 27,000 students annually in college credit courses. The college provides strong support to students who have been traditionally underserved in higher education, such as low-income students, students of color, and first generation college students. Roughly 24 percent of TCC’s enrollment is comprised of students of color.

TCC places excellence in education and student success at the core of its mission. TCC has implemented integrative curricula and foundation courses to help students prepare for and succeed in more advanced courses. The college offers courses in the liberal arts, science, math and career and workforce education. Students are able to earn associate degrees or certificates in order to transfer to a four-year college or to step directly into a career.

Achieving the Dream Goals

Tulsa Community College’s goal is to effectively use data to help more students succeed, particularly those who have traditionally faced the most significant barriers to success, including low income students and students of color.  Through the Achieving the Dream initiative, the college plans to:

  • Identify through data analysis student populations that currently experience low rates of success
  • Develop interventions to improve student outcomes
  • Measure changes in student success

Ultimately, through this initiative TCC seeks to help more students achieve their individual goals, including obtaining a better job, earning a community college certificate or associate degree, or attaining a bachelor’s degree.
