Paris Junior College

Background

Paris Junior College is a two-year, community college in Paris, Texas, a small, rural town in the northeast part of the state, with additional locations in Greenville and Sulphur Springs. Nearly 20 percent of the area population lives below the poverty line. PJC enrolls about 4,300 students, 20 percent of which are students of color.

Paris Junior College is an innovative and comprehensive community college that advances the life-long educational development of students consistent with their needs, interests, and abilities while strengthening the economic, social, and cultural life of its diverse community. The College provides high-quality, flexible academic transfer and career-focused educational programs and services through a commitment to teaching and learning excellence within an accessible and supportive environment.

Achieving the Dream Goals

Paris Junior College seeks to increase its capacity for sophisticated data analysis in order to meet its goal of implementing programs and services that will help all students succeed. As part of its Achieving the Dream work the college aims to:

  • Improve student retention rates
  • Improve student success rates
  • Better evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs and strategies including peer mentoring and tutoring, advising, the college’s writing lab and student employment programs 

Paris Junior College is determined to improve student outcomes and strongly believes that all students can succeed. The college is committed to leveraging the necessary resources to make effective change happen.
