STEVE MITTELSTET

Steve Mittelstet has been president of Richland College of the Dallas County Community College District for 25 years, where he has served on the humanities faculty since 1972. He has led the college through its involvement as one of eight pilot institutions for new accreditation standards by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.  He has taught Adult Basic Education and GED preparation, French and humanities, management change and theory, community college curriculum and instruction, and higher education administration.  Steve established many innovative programs at Richland, including the Multicultural Center; Studies Abroad Programs; Diversity Consultant Program; Mind-Body Health Curriculum; Honors Program; Adult Resource Center; Thunderwater Organizational Learning Institute; Uncommittee interdisciplinary professional development program; and visiting professorships.

He holds a PhD in community college leadership from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA in English, French, History/Religion from McMurry College, Texas, and he has done postdoctoral study in France and Costa Rica.
