Recently retired, Alice Villadsen was president of Brookhaven College in Dallas, Texas, from 1998-2005. She currently consults with a number of colleges and other organizations. Prior appointments included Vice President for Instruction at Central Piedmont Community College, North Carolina, Dean of Instruction and Dean of Administration at Calhoun College, Alabama, and English faculty member at Gulf Coast Community College, Florida. Alice holds BS, MA, and PhD degrees from The University of Alabama. She chaired or served on 12 accreditation teams for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, was president of the North Texas Consortium of Community Colleges, and participated as a member of the National Advisory Council of the American Student Association of Community Colleges. |

She has written on adjunct faculty, presidential challenges, technology in the classroom, and women’s leadership. Under her leadership, Brookhaven College increased enrollments from 7,500 to 11,000 credit students, improved course retention from 73% to 80%, and significantly increased minority enrollments. She led the college to adopt a new vision, “Dedicated to Student Success.
