The Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges is a nonprofit, volunteer membership association for Pennsylvania’s 14 community colleges. Its members include college presidents, members of colleges’ boards of trustees and key college administrators. Established in 1994, the Commission is the result of a merger between two organizations – a predecessor commission organized by college presidents to collectively address issues of financing and operations, and the Pennsylvania Federation of Community College Trustees (PFCCT), an advocacy organization at the state level. The Commission is governed by a Board of Directors composed of the president and the chair of the Board of Trustees of each member community college, or his or her designee. A president’s council serves as its operating arm. The Commission continues to represent the collective interests of the 14 colleges, which served nearly 350,000 students in 2001.State Contacts:

ACHIEVING THE DREAM WORKPLAN PRIORITIES
1. Data and Performance Measurement – Create a data-driven accountability system to track student outcomes and institutional effectiveness.
2. Student Success – Engage in a visible, statewide campaign making community college student success an explicit policy goal.
3. K-12 and Postsecondary Alignment – Align expectations, standards, and assessments across the K-16 education spectrum so that student postsecondary transitions are successful.
4. Transfer and Articulation – Develop and promote state policies that fully recognize the transfer and articulation of an Associate’s degree to a four-year institution.
5. Financial Aid – Expand and strengthen financial aid policies and incentives for students who face financial barriers to degree completion. Improve financial aid policies for students requiring remedial or developmental education.
