The South Carolina Technical College System, a statewide system includes 16 technical colleges that served about 235,000 students in credit and continuing education during the 2005-06 academic year – nearly half of all undergraduates enrolled in public higher education in the state. South Carolina 's Technical Colleges offer degree, diploma, certificate and continuing education programs in more than 130 areas, ranging from allied heath fields to automotive technology, paralegal training to air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics, and civil engineering technology to culinary arts. The State Tech Board is responsible for the state-level development, implementation and coordination of postsecondary occupational and technical training and education in the system.

ACHIEVING THE DREAM WORKPLAN PRIORITIES
1. Data and Performance Measurement – Assess and refine system data management and reporting capabilities to provide greater accessibility to data necessary for enterprise business decisions.
2. Student Success – More effectively prepare greater numbers of South Carolinians for postsecondary education and work.
3. Financial Aid – Create a system to ensure that the financial status of the students is not a barrier for access to, retention in, and graduation from postsecondary education.
