Gwinnett Technical College
With the assistance of the Achieving the Dream National Reform Network, Gwinnett Technical College will assess student success and campus services in terms of equity to identify any achievement gaps, particularly for minority and underrepresented students. Gwinnett Technical College is prepared to utilize Achieving the Dream’s model to improve student success with an emphasis on increasing retention and completion rates.
The college will also seek to develop a data driven culture of student success by improving:
- Research and data capacity at the college
- Disaggregation of relevant data, as well as identification and implementation of data-driven improvements
- Integration of a multicultural perspective into current initiative work
Gwinnett Tech has worked to improve student success through a Quality Enhancement Plan focused on academically disadvantaged students, with special attention to students with limited knowledge of English. Through the QEP the college developed an advising center to serve all students, guiding them through programs of study. To further foster retention and student success the college implemented a Coaching for Life! Program, created a Customer Care Center, and increased scholarship offerings, support for dual-enrollment students, and student activities.
Located in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Gwinnett Technical College is a member of the Technical College System of George that serves the communities of Gwinnett and North Fulton by offering campus and distance learning for associate degrees, diplomas, certificates in credit programs as well as for adult and continuing education training. The college’s vision is to “Teach every adult; serve every business.” From inception, the college has been able to provide every student with a career-focused education that is relevant to the local industry’s needs. Serving a richly heterogeneous community, Gwinnett Technical College embraces diversity and is committed to serving an all-inclusive audience.
Gwinnett Tech is a vibrant community, a place where corporations and individuals value education and have a history of supporting college priorities that focus on students and their entry into the workforce. The college has build strong relationships with individuals and businesses in their community, helping to assist the college as they seek to ensure student success, access, and equity.
