Gateways to Success

An expanded 4 hour (from 1 hour) “Gateways to Success” orientation and registration program will address: degree and certificate requirements, creating an educational plan, sources for financial resources, and registration processes and procedures, resulting in increased student self-efficacy and educational goal achievement. Each quarter every new degree seeking student is required to attend these sessions in order to register for the upcoming quarter. These sessions will be lead by student services staff as well as other newly trained staff and faculty from other areas of the college. After attending the Gateway days, students will receive support from staff who worked with them during their sessions. This additional support will assist students planning their quarterly schedule and will provide them more opportunity to receive assistance. New student follow up will include calling new students during the first three quarters to provide assistance as needed and quarterly meetings to review each student’s educational and class plans.
