Academic Standing Policy Revision

Our Academic Standing Policy was outdated, convoluted and needed to be closely aligned with the Federal Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy. The Policy was revised to implement more stringent requirements, so that students who find themselves on Academic Probation are subjected to more connections as a preventative measure. They are now required to take less than 18 credits, meet with their assigned faculty or professional advisors, and have a tailored Academic Plan in place to prevent them from being academically suspended. Academically suspended students are going to be more accountable as well and forced to provide official documentation to an Academic Review Board. The Board will also make decisions on whether an academically suspended student can return to NECC.

While the Academic Standing Policy may continue to be updated, its review and any changes made will no longer be under the purview of the Core Team for Achieving the Dream.
