Common Methodology for Elementary and Intermediate Algebra for all students at LAMC

Students taking Algebra at LAMC are progressing in their course work at a faster rate and with a higher success rate thanks to the design of the courses, the common customized textbook used in the two courses, and the common final administered. Courses are setup at the same day/time and with the same instructor in consecutive terms allowing students to plan their schedule for the whole academic year.  Moreover, a common course syllabus and a common set of online homework problems and practice tests have streamlined the content delivery and set the expectations.

Using the common methodology, the average success rate for Elementary Algebra has not improved. However, the progression rate from Elementary Algebra to Intermediate Algebra has increased by 6%.
