Sisters of Strength

Sisters of Strength is a social support network, focused on female students of color and opportunities to network with community leaders.  Persistence rates are higher for Sisters of Strength than the comparison group of African-American females.  The fall to winter persistence for participants has ranged from 92 to 100% compared to 65 to 73%.  In following the cohort over time, Sisters of Strength have persisted over two years at 42% compared to 22%.  In looking at GPAs, 76% of Sisters of Strength  have a passing GPA versus 52% for the comparison group.

Sisters of Strength continues in service to community and in working with our on-campus housing students.  This year, students held the first Kente graduation celebration at Jackson College.
