When your institution becomes part of the Achieving the Dream (ATD) Network, you begin a process of change and growth in the company of peer institutions ready to share what they learn along the way and committed to student success.

Starting with the application process through the Kickoff Institute that begins your Achieving the Dream work, we develop deep relationships with our Network colleges and learn about your goals, challenges, and culture. Next, we match your college with two coaches.  ATD coaches serve as trusted advisors.  They work to understand your needs and provide valuable advice about tested practices and solutions—both within and beyond ATD—that can help you advance student success.

In 2016, we introduced a new way of looking at community colleges based on a framework that includes seven essential institutional capacities. We also launched a companion diagnostic tool, the Institutional Capacity Assessment Tool (ICAT), to help colleges understand their strengths and challenges. Working with our colleges from the “inside out,” we are invested in creating more responsive, data-driven, student-centered institutions. Nearly 22,000 individuals from more than 160 institutions have taken the ICAT since September 2016.
