Higher Education Data and Technology Expert Joins Achieving the Dream Board of Directors

Dr. Nicole Melander, Campus Labs vice president and former Achieving the Dream (ATD) chief technology officer, is returning to ATD as a member of ATD’s Board of Directors. Dr. Karen A. Stout, ATD president and CEO, announced the appointment June 29, 2018, and said, “We are pleased to welcome her back to ATD in a new capacity to help strengthen our work for community colleges.”

Dr. Melander brings deep experience in analytics, operations, innovation, and technology within multi-national software companies. She has significant knowledge of how to leverage colleges’ data and application ecosystems to develop insight, identify opportunities, and enable institutional improvement.

Over her career, Dr. Melander has held education and technology leadership positions.  She has served as vice president, consulting at Civitas Learning where she was also a faculty member of the Next Generation Leadership Academy, a program dedicated to grounding rising educational leaders in the issues and innovations of the day. Before she joined Civitas Learning, she served as executive vice president and chief customer officer at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. In this position, she was dedicated to transforming the learning experience through strategic digital innovation and a superb customer experience.

Dr. Melander earned a PhD in information technology from George Mason University, a MS in technical management from Johns Hopkins University, and a BS in computer science from West Chester University.
