Data & Analytic Summit Addresses the Power of Data to Close Gaps in Higher Education

Achieving the Dream is convening college and university researchers, IT professionals, administrators, and faculty and staff at its fourth annual Data & Analytics Summit, September 5-7, in College Park, MD. Experts and practitioners will lead keynotes, plenaries, and sessions about the value of using data to improve every aspect of the student experience and illuminate gaps in student success that colleges are working to close.

ATD President and CEO Dr. Karen A. Stout will set the tone in her opening keynote address, Offense, Defense or Special Teams: What’s Your Data Strategy?  Dr. Virginia Eubanks, political scientist and author of Automating Inequality: How High-Tech Tools Profile, Police, and Punish the Poor, will highlight the opportunities that data scientists have to push the field toward social justice by including the voices and stories of those subjected to automation’s most damaging effects.

Other program highlights include a panel presentation by industry and community college partners who collaborated to create a “Big Data” pathway to a baccalaureate degree, and sessions on data governance, building institutional capacity to use data, predictive analytics, part-time students, closing equity gaps, and more.

“The Data & Analytics Summit welcomes colleagues from two-year and four-year colleges and universities throughout the country who share our commitment to offering students an educational experience, powered by data, that prepares them for success at work and in their communities,” said Dr. Stout. “The foundation of all change on campus, from improved advising to integrated, holistic supports to new career pathways and strong alumni outcomes is data.”
