Laura Petrik

Laura Petrik is the Assistant Director of Communications, Digital Content at Achieving the Dream, Inc. In this role, Laura is responsible for advancing ATD’s communications strategy and goals by managing ATD’s digital communications tools and generating content and messaging to be used across all ATD communications platforms including: the ATD website, social media, newsletters, publications, and press releases. Since joining ATD, Laura has helped enhance the internal communications infrastructure by creating communal templates, calendars, and regular analytics updates. In addition to these tasks, Laura provides communications support and materials for ATD’s Network, Funded Learning Initiatives, and external events such as DREAM, the new cohort Kickoff Institute, and the Data and Analytics Summit.

Prior to joining ATD, Laura worked in environmental conservation and held numerous graduate-level internships with non-profit organizations including Field to Market and World Wildlife Fund. At Field to Market Laura played a critical role in the launching of their new website and was responsible for interacting and engaging with Field to Market stakeholders through the creation of poignant messaging via the website, social media, and traditional media. Laura also helped drive traffic to Field to Market platforms by generating compelling stories for a diverse group of advocates for sustainable agriculture and using social media to promote Field to Market’s programs and services to broaden the Alliance’s brand awareness.

While at World Wildlife Fund, Laura served as the Freshwater Corporate Water Stewardship Communications Intern with a specific focus on drafting copy for freshwater and food sustainability. Laura helped execute WWF’s AgWater Challenge communications strategy. She participated in a variety of communications activities including: drafting content for internal and external media, developing communications outreach strategies, and engaging external audiences through newsletters, initiative updates, and case studies.

Laura holds a Master of Arts in Mass Communications with a concentration in Global Strategic Communications from the University of Florida, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs with concentrations in Sociocultural Anthropology and Europe and Eurasia and a Minor in Italian Studies from The George Washington University.
