Joanne C. Anderson

Joanne C. Anderson is Interim Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at Achieving the Dream, Inc. In this role, Joanne leads the development and implementation of an integrated marketing and communications strategy, including branding and messaging programs to consistently articulate ATD’s mission, vision, and values. As a member of the president’s leadership team, she is responsible for a broad range of public relations activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership.

Joanne is an advisor and practitioner with more than 30 years of experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic communications, branding, and media relations in the higher education, nonprofit, and corporate sectors. Her expertise in building and managing brands focuses on developing strategies and creating content that clearly and consistently articulates goals and strategic direction, improves internal and external communication, and builds or strengthens reputation. She has worked closely with senior leaders, governance and advisory boards, and key stakeholders to create marketing and communications programs to advance an institution’s internal, external, and fundraising communications goals.

She has held various leadership positions at higher education institutions including Camden County Community College Executive Director of Communications and Development; Northampton Community College as Director of Marketing and Publications; and at Lehigh University, Senior Advisor to the President, Director of the Office of the President, Assistant to the Dean for External Relations, and Director of University Communications. Her for-profit roles include Senior Communications Strategist at Feats (now August Jackson); and Director of Communications at MRB Communications/Verve Internet Solutions. She is an active member of Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the American Marketing Association.

Joanne earned a B.A. in Communication Arts from Elizabethtown College, PA, and certification from Continuous Improvement Initiative Training and International Webmasters Association.
