Evaluation and Planning Consultant
Dan McConochie is recently retired and has been Senior Director of Planning, Research and Evaluation at the Community College of Baltimore County in Maryland, which is an Achieving the Dream Institution. As an Achieving the Dream Data Coach, Mr. McConochie has worked with three community colleges in North Carolina and Virginia, and is currently working with Northern Virginia Community College and with Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana.
Prior to his role with Achieving the Dream, Mr. McConochie had an extensive career with community colleges. He has led research and planning efforts at a small rural college, a suburban/urban college, and at the state level in Maryland as the Director of Planning and Research for the State Board for Community Colleges.
Mr. McConochie has taught at the university level and as an adjunct faculty member in community colleges. He began his association with community colleges as a freshman at Daytona Beach Community College, and began his career long interest in how colleges impact students while teaching at a college in Iran as a Peace Corps Volunteer.
Educational Background: McConochie holds a B.A. and M.A. from Florida State, and has done graduate work in research and planning at the University of Michigan and the University of Maryland. He has published studies on evaluation and outcomes indicators and regularly presents at professional conferences.
