Joanne Bashford, Ed.D.

Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness, Miami Dade College

As an Achieving the Dream Data Coach, Dr. Bashford consults three community colleges located in Ohio, Texas, and Illinois to help them use data effectively to improve their student retention, success, and graduation rates, particularly for low-income students and students of color.

Along with her role in Achieving the Dream, Dr. Bashford leads the Office of Institutional Effectiveness at Miami Dade College, where she has worked for 19 years. In this capacity, she leads the Institutional Research, Learning Outcomes Assessment, and College-Wide Testing and Feedback programs for the large, multi-campus institution. Dr. Bashford has also facilitated workshops for the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) and contributed to their Data and Decisions Academy™ courses. Her consulting experience includes conducting workshops on survey development, environmental scanning and strategic planning, and institutional research evaluation and capacity building.

Educational background: Dr. Bashford holds an Ed.D. from Florida International University in Educational Administration and Supervision; a M.Ed. from the University of Pittsburgh in Counselor Education; and a B.A. from the University of Florida in Psychology.
