Higher Education Consultant 

Laurie Heacock is currently a higher education consultant specializing in research and evaluation and is a Data Coach for Achieving the Dream. As an Achieving the Dream Data Coach, Laurie consults with Davidson County Community College in North Carolina, Saint Clair County Community College in Michigan, Lorain County Community College in Ohio and The University of Texas Brownsville/Texas Southmost College in Texas. Laurie is also a mentor for the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) Data and Decisions Academy.

Prior to her role with Achieving the Dream, she began her career in institutional research at the College of Southern Maryland and worked 18 years for Anne Arundel Community College in institutional research, student services, and information technology. She has served as president of the Maryland Community College Research Group and is a graduate of the Leadership Anne Arundel flagship program. Areas of specialization include project management, business intelligence, policy analysis, evaluation research, systems analysis and design, strategic planning and management and degree audit implementation.

Laurie is married to the president of SUNY Adirondack, a community college in upstate New York and they have an 18 year old daughter and 16 year old son. Laurie splits her time between Annapolis, Maryland and Lake George, New York. Laurie actively volunteers with the Lake George Association, Adirondack Theatre Festival and The Hyde Collection. Laurie chaired solicitations for the Annapolis Book Festival in 2005 and 2006 and served on the Leadership Anne Arundel planning committees for education day and environment day in 2004-2006.

Educational Background: Heacock holds a B.S. and M.A. in Psychology from James Madison University and has completed the coursework for a doctoral degree in Policy Sciences with a concentration in evaluation research from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
