Mark Figueroa, Ph.D.

Director of Assessment, Planning and Institutional Research and Assistant Professor at Scripps College in Claremont 

As an Achieving the Dream Data Coach, Mark Figueroa consults six community colleges throughout the Pacific Northwest and Southwest.

Prior to his role with Achieving the Dream, Dr. Figueroa was the founding Director of Institutional Research at Saint Mary's College of California, where he served for almost five years. He also has served as research analyst for the Educational Opportunity Program at California State University, Los Angeles for three years. Dr. Figueroa has also held a variety of appointments within the Claremont Colleges Consortium.

Through assessment, evaluation and planning, Dr. Figueroa's work has served to help bridge the gap between academic affairs and student affairs. He has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and most recently has taught courses on the cultural politics of hip hop, college student development, and diversity in higher education. He is also currently directing a men of color research collaborative.

Educational Background: Dr. Figueroa earned a Ph.D. in Education from Claremont Graduate University; a M.P.A. in Public Administration from Arizona State University; and B.A. in Philosophy from U.C. Riverside.
