Associate Vice Chancellor, Community College Partnerships, University of Texas System
As an Achieving the Dream Coach, Martha Ellis consults with one community college in Texas, with an interest in improving their student retention and graduation rates for disenfranchised populations through faculty and external community engagement.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Ellis served for seven years as president of Lee College in Baytown, TX. She also served as president of Texas State Technical College in Waco,TX. Dr. Ellis has held various faculty and administrative positions in community colleges for 28 years.
Dr. Ellis is the facilitator for the Future Leaders Institute for Workforce Development for the American Association of Community Colleges. She is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences. She served on the board of the American Association of Community Colleges and was a Trustee for the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Dr. Ellis serves on numerous economic development, chamber, and nonprofit boards.
Educational Background: Dr. Ellis has a Ph.D in higher education administration and research from University of North Texas; a MS in developmental psychology from University of Texas at Dallas; and BA in music and psychology from American Christian College. She has completed post doctoral work at Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, an internship at the Albert Ellis Institute, New York, and is a graduate of the New Presidents Institute at Harvard University.
