Statement by Achieving the Dream Senior Vice President Carol Lincoln on Brazosport College, Broward College, College of the Ouachitas, and Kingsborough Community College Being Named Finalists in The Aspen Prize
We are proud to congratulate Brazosport College, Broward College, College of the Ouachitas, and Kingsborough Community College for being named top ten finalists for The Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence!
As the entire Achieving the Dream National Reform Network understands, improving student success is extremely difficult and critically important. Achieving the Dream Institutions like Brazosport, Broward, College of the Ouachitas, and Kingsborough are demonstrating how it can be done with equity and excellence. As a Top Ten Finalist, each college is being recognized for outstanding achievements in four areas: student learning outcomes, degree and college completion, labor market success in students securing jobs after college, and minority and low-income student success.
We especially want to acknowledge the staff members serving on their college’s Achieving the Dream Core Team. They are leaders in every sense of the word – serious, committed, and effective exemplars of the student success process. We wish the colleges the very best as they approach the final leg of the competition when representatives from the Aspen Institute will conduct site visits and gather extensive additional data, including employment and earnings outcomes for each college’s graduates. Again, please join us in congratulating Brazosport College, Broward College, College of the Ouachitas, and Kingsborough Community College!
