Resources for the Presidential Executive Orders

Updated November 2, 2017

Many colleges in our Achieving the Dream Network are working extraordinarily hard to find ways to support and protect their students, faculty, and staff who may be affected by the President’s decision to rescind DACA and the Executive Orders that deny entrance to America from specific countries.

To assist in these efforts, we have put together tools and information that our college presidents and their leadership teams can use as they develop ways for responding to shifts in immigration and DACA policy in their local communities. Our newest resource addresses states' changing in-state tuition policy for undocumented students and will help our colleges navigate through these changes. ATD has also created a sample resolution that colleges may customize and send to their US Senators and Members of Congress to show their support for a permanent DACA solution. Other resources include handouts, Power Point presentations, and background materials shared or referenced by immigration experts at DREAM in February 2017.

In addition, we have updated our resources available on the travel ban to reflect the Trump administration’s new travel restrictions. On September 24, the Trump administration announced the new ban to the U.S. by nationals from seven countries – Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. The Executive Order is a replacement to a central portion of the travel ban issued in March and will take full effect on October 18, 2017.

ATD will continue to help by adding resources and providing information as we find it to help you keep abreast of the ever changing policy landscape.
