ATD Hosts Live Virtual Town Hall

Network colleges and others have opportunity to ask questions related to supporting student success during this ever-changing environment

As part of its ongoing support of colleges in its national network, Achieving the Dream is hosting a 90-minute virtual town hall on April 20. President and CEO Dr. Stout and other ATD leaders will field questions and provide guidance and suggest practical steps to help colleges during the COVID-19 crisis. The interactive session will address a wide range of areas such as:

  • redeploying staff to support emerging outreach or expanded advising needs
  • thinking about next steps for sustaining momentum
  • improving upon practice of distance learning and accessibility to comprehensive virtual student supports and advising
  • identifying data points for tracking progress and outcomes during this time to help inform decision making
  • identifying internal and external communication strategies to stay connected to students, faculty, staff and community in this sustained virtual environment

Through virtual events such as this town hall, Achieving the Dream is building a stronger understanding of the changing needs of community colleges nationally and is creating supports for colleges as they respond to COVID-19. Over the past month, more than 1,000 individuals, including community college faculty and administrators, participated a four-part webinar series, Teaching & Learning Through Disruption, and dozens of colleges have participated in virtual consultations with ATD leaders. Learning from these virtual meetings and conversations is informing ATD’s ongoing development of supports and services.
