“Turtle Mountain Community College utilizes its strengths as a tribal higher education institution in 'providing a world of opportunities' for its students, and will continue to strongly pursue this by advancing the Achieving the Dream initiative.”–Jim Davis, President, Turtle Mountain Community College
Turtle Mountain Community College (TMCC) is one of the six founding members of tribal colleges and universities in the country and was chartered by the Tribal Council of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa in November 1972. The Tribe is located ten miles from the US/Canadian border and near the world-renowned International Peace Garden. Since its beginning, the college has grown from an institution serving less than sixty students per year to its current status of over 650 full time equivalents and approximately 250 pre-college adults. Indeed, the college plays a vital role in the community, region, and the state. Our student graduates are employed in over thirty communities around the state, and the impact of our college on North Dakota's economy in 2016 was $41,000,000. Our role within our college/tribal community is to be a change agent and we do that through higher education and developing and implementing programs of study that address leadership and all that goes with it.
