Second Annual Teaching and Learning National Institute

July 30, 2017 - August 2, 2017

The Washington Center
2700 Evergreen Pkwy NW, Olympia, WA, 98505

An exciting opportunity to put teaching and learning, and the quality of students' experiences in the classroom, at the center of campus change efforts.

Participating campus teams will develop evidence-based action plans aimed at improving effective instructional practices, student engagement, and student learning and success. For example, teams might tackle concerns about opportunity gaps and student success outcomes, student reports about being insufficiently challenged in the curriculum, contextualizing intellectual and practical skill development within general education courses, students' abilities to make connections and apply what they're learning in new contexts, the quality of senior writing, or the absence of quantitative reasoning across disciplines.

With a carefully coordinated mix of plenaries, concurrent sessions, and team time, this residential institute provides a learning space for campus teams to develop plans that can guide the work of examining, improving, and supporting what happens in the classrooms and other learning contexts across their campuses. Experienced educators from across the country will facilitate small and large group sessions, and work directly with teams as resources for the entire institute.
