Credential Registry- Why Your College Should Participate

October 30, 2018

Webinar 3pm ET/ noon PT

A new national effort to identify, capture, and publish the industry credentials currently available in the retail, hospitality, restaurant, lodging and related sectors is now live and actively seeking community colleges and other stakeholders to register.  In concert with the National Retail Federation Foundation, the National Restaurant Association, and the American Hotel and Lodging Association, the initiative is designed to make the complex credential marketplace clearer so that students, job seekers, workers, and employers have the information they need make better decisions about credential content, meaning, and value.

Achieving the Dream, a member of the Retail and Hospitality Working Group, will host a webinar on Tuesday, October 30th at 3 pm ET for colleges to learn more about efforts to create a national credentialing registry and why your college should participate in this effort.  This national effort is beginning with credentials in retail and hospitality but will expand to other industry sectors and create more transparency across the credentialing spectrum.  The goal is to have common language relating to credentials and eventually to:

  • signal which credentials matter the most to employers so that colleges can better align to those demands;
  • help employers better understand the skills that prospective hires bring to the job;
  • and build upon career pathways which can help individuals understand the value of industry recognized credentials.  Ivy Tech will share how they have participated in the registry and how it aligns with their degree pathways.
