Guiding Change towards a Culture of Teaching & Learning Excellence for Student Success

Join us for Achieving the Dream’s 2nd annual Teaching and Learning Summit to explore how your college can create a culture of teaching and learning excellence for student success. Our Summit is designed to support institutional teams of four or more in examining inclusive, evidence-based classroom instructional practices and faculty professional learning strategies,and will design an action plan for implementing models that support students to succeed and achieve their academic and professional goals. 


The Teaching and Learning Summit will focus on ATD’s guiding principles for a Culture of Teaching and Learning Excellence that support student success. The four principles include: 

  1. Guiding Principle I: Full-time and adjunct faculty are using learner-centered inclusive, evidence-based instructional practices to foster student learning 
  2. Guiding Principle II: Full-time and adjunct faculty are key collaborators in the college’s student success efforts with staff and administrators in academic affairs and student affairs 
  3. Guiding Principle III: Faculty and students engage as active learners in an accessible, empowering, personalized, and supportive academic community 
  4. Guiding Principle IV:  Institution embraces professional learning for continuous improvement and aligns these activities and related expectations in hiring, evaluation, promotion 

We are accepting proposals for breakout workshops from colleges working to address one or more of the following topics:

  • High impact practices (active learning, collaborative learning, transparency framework) 
  • Open educational resources 
  • Engaging adjunct faculty 
  • Adaptive courseware 
  • Culturally responsive practices/Teaching for Equity/Inclusive pedagogy
  • Guided pathways: Ensuring students are learning
  • Developmental Education Reform 
  • Models of faculty collaboration; faculty engagement 
  • Faculty roles in holistic student supports
