Technology-Enhanced Communication

The Technology Enhanced Communication project targets all STC students (the initial implementation will target a pilot group of students who are first-time, full-time, fall enrolled students). Utilizing the existing and new technological tools, the College will keep students informed of their progress along their educational pathways. Specifically, six tools will be used to monitor and display students' progress, alerting students if they are off-track, informing them of the accumulated hours completed, and automatically offering them degrees or certificates upon completion. These tools include (1) Graduation Progress Meter, (2) Degree Progress Report, (3) Auto-Population of Curriculum Records, (4) Automatic Graduation, (5) Student Course Registration/Off-Track Notification, (6) Warnings on Courses. The design of these tools is based on the feedback provided by college-wide engagement dialogue and best practices. With the implementation of these tools, we expect to see fewer students taking courses outside their majors, greater retention, and more timely graduation.
