Developmental Student Orientation

Although all Gaston College students must participate in a mandatory online orientation, the Developmental Student Orientation provides developmental students the opportunity of participating in an additional on-campus orientation. The Developmental Student Orientation provides a more personal beginning to students' college experiences based on these students' comments that they think more communication is needed.  The orientation is optional, and it targeted new students taking at least one developmental course. Mailers were sent to students registered for at least one developmental class. The events were held at the Main (Dallas) and Lincoln Campuses about a week prior to the start of the fall semester.

Sessions included introductions to and tours of the following:

  • Computer and Technology Services (interactive sessions to instruct students on how to access email, WebAdvisor, Blackboard, and other online areas of the College)
  • Student Activities
  • Veteran Student Activities
  • Persistence and Retention

  • TRiO
  • Writing Center
