Early Alert

The Early Alert Program at El Paso Community College has now been scaled to include all campuses of the College.  It is a retention program aimed to identify academically at-risk First-time-in-college (FTIC) students.  DropGuard, is being used as an early alert software to track academically at-risk students.  Advisors are used to administer assessments, establish liaison with faculty, and contact and meet with at-risk students.  The success of this program is based on the individualized proactive advising for students who have been identified as at-risk by instructors because of factors placing them at risk such as lack of attendance.  A Case Management approach is utilized with the goal of reducing the number of students on academic probation and/or suspension and to improve academic performance leading to degree completion.
