New Student Orientation

Beginning in 2015 New Student Orientation is required of all degree or certificate students who are new to Muskegon Community College and who have fewer than 12 college credits. Several orientations are held each week in small face to face settings. There is an online option for students who are taking only online classes and cannot make it to campus.

The New Student Orientation and College Success Seminar Coordinators worked together to revise the content of each experience. NSO now prepares students to navigate enrollment and their first weeks of college while CSS continues the conversation and teaches the good habits of successful college students. NSO sessions are small (20 students), on-campus, and lively (including a scavenger hunt). It is led by a personable, enthusiastic coordinator whose full-time job is NSO.
