M3 = Success Program

Focus groups and a student survey identified the two largest barriers to student success at West Hills College Lemoore as time management (balancing life and school) and money (financial resources and financial literacy). The Intervention designed to address these two issues is the development and implementation of a program for students called M3 = Success- with the added intervention of math concepts.

The M3 = Success Program is a 3 day orientation that has a specific focus on Math, Money, and Time Management. Each of the “M” modules is 5 hours with hands-on activities, real life examples and application, technology-infused curriculum, built-in assessments to check for understanding, and will be taught by SI leaders, faculty, financial aid staff, and counselors. The three modules that are developed will include orientation elements and can be replicated so that they can be offered in other venues such as embedded into all Math courses, embedded into our IS: College Success class, offered as independent workshops throughout the school year, and embedded into the On Demand Student Services programming.

In January 2016, we piloted this initative with a handful of students right before the start of the spring semeter.  This "soft launch"  allowed us to improve the model to be able to scale up for fall 2016, where we will have 100 students particpate.

In August 2016, we will launch this for 100 students.
