Student Success Courses

In Fall 2015, ACC introduced pilot Student Success Courses, including EDUC 1300: Effective Learning.  The course has been approved for the ACC Core Curriculum and thus will transfer as a credit course in all degree programs.  The courses is designed to accomplish several objectives, including:

  • Students' self-inventory of interests and skills
  • Students' career exploration activities
  • Students' required meetings with an assigned advisor to confirm program of study
  • Instruction in the latest theories and strategies for effective learning
  • Introduction to college support services (tutoring, student life, library, etc.)

In Fall 2016, a student success course will be required of all FTIC students at ACC with less than 12 semester credit hours of college work.  This will impact approximately 6,000 students each fall.
