Men of Merit

Men of Merit is a social support network focused on African-American men students networking with community leaders. Persistence rates are higher for Men of Merit than the comparison group of African-American men.  The fall to winter persistence for participants has ranged from 71 to 86% compared to 59 to 65%.  In following the cohort over time, men of Merit have persisted over two years at 51% compared to 23%..  In looking at GPAs, 67% of Men of Merit  have a passing GPA versus 44% for the comparison group.

Men of Merit students have been involved in the new assessment instrument developed by the Multicultural director.  Students continue to support each other in striving to meet their goals.  This year, students held the first Kente graduation celebration at Jackson College.
