Student Success Navigators

Jackson College has committed to increasing the number and quality of contacts with advisors, called Student Success Navigators.  Lead by the assistant dean of Student Services, Navigators have a defined advising model, with detailed information about expectations for each phase of advising and the goal of three hard contacts per semester with each advisee.  Navigators will discuss career goals, transfer information and milestone achievements with advisees.  An academic recovery program has been designed and is being implemented for students who fail in any one semester.

Students are assigned to Navigators by the alphabet and all navigators are cross-trained in all pathways.  Each academic department and pathway has an assigned Navigator who serves as their liaison.

Immediate results from a Noel Levitz Student Satisfaction survey showed that each survey item regarding advising improved from below the norm to above the norm.
