Developmental Math

To increase persistence and completion rates in math courses, the Math Department replaced the former three-level remedial sequence with a two-level non-STEM pathway, adding a third pre-STEM transition course for students pursuing STEM fields.  Now fully implemented, this curricular overhaul has eliminated one full level within the pre-college math curriculum for all non-STEM students, shrinking the time investment by one academic term for the majority of students served.  At the same time, the faculty revised the curriculum of the pre-college courses to increase their relevance, application, and interest for students, and to add study skills and instruction in affective behaviors that lead to success. This intervention is fully scaled up.
