A Framework for Success: Increasing Acheivement through Multi-Year Career Pathways

To help increase student academic achievement and engagement, TCC is establishing a more focused two-pronged approach to guide students from admission through graduation by 1) creating an orientation, assessment, and advising protocol that embraces meta-majors and career pathways and 2) enriching the current curriculum of required introductory college-level gateway courses with active, experiential learning contextualized to each of the meta-majors.

As a result of the Title III grant’s initiatives, students at TCC will start on a clearly chosen pathway from the outset, make connections between their career interests and their coursework, and sustain their focus through to completion. The goal at the end of the five-year grant is to see the following outcomes: 1) fall-to-fall retention rates for FTIC to increase by 10%; 2) student success in gateway courses to increase by 10%; and 3) the AA graduation rate to increase by 5%.
