New Student Orientation

A collaboration between student affairs, academic affairs, and enrollment management, New Student Orientation is designed to familiarize new students with college resources, to advise and register them, and to educate them about the expectations of faculty at the college level.  This is a multiple step entry process:

  1. Students attend a College Planning to discuss assessment, placement, advisement and registration as the first step.
  2. The onsite orientation takes place several weeks to several days before the start of the semester. There, student and academic affairs staff engage students more directly on issues of faculty expectations, student responsibilities, College services and resources, and career direction.
  3. An ongoing, virtual, modular orientation is being implemented for fall 2017.  Starting in 2018, this online orientation will be the first step in the orientation process, followed by College Planning and then the onsite orientation.
