Contextualization Project

In August 2016, fifteen Business faculty (Accounting, General Business, Economics, Management) and sixteen General Education faculty (English, Speech, Computer Science, and Math) completed a two-day Contextualized Teaching and Learning program to learn from each other, collaborate across disciplines, and identify commonalities in their course learning outcomes that could provide prospects for contextualization.

After the training, focus groups were held along with a Charrette Design Planning session that brought together business faculty as contextualization consultants to assist General Education (Gen Ed.) faculty serving as contextualization designers in Speech, English, Math, Philosophy and Computer Literacy. Each Gen Ed. faculty member redesigned four learning activities with business related themes, and 15 business-themed Gen Ed courses were offered in Spring Term 20172.
