Spread the Use of Pathways: Apply to Become a Pathways Coach

Achieving the Dream and sister organizations in the Pathways Collaborative* invite applications for the inaugural cohort of 35 pathways coaches. Pathways coaches will provide on-site and related support to colleges by modeling, guiding, and encouraging teams of faculty, staff and administrators to:

  • Design, implement, assess and improve pathways that increase retention, progression, and valuable credential completion for all students and reduce equity gaps among groups of students; and
  • Build capacity, innovation, and leadership at all levels of the institution to sustain and evolve this substantive change.

The Collaborative seeks to build a highly diverse cohort of pathways coaches in terms of both personal and professional background. Strong candidates include current or recently retired community college mid-to-senior level leaders in academic and student services, and administration; mid-to-senior level personnel in educational organizations; and current partner organization coaches who want to expand their knowledge and skills. The common variables among successful applicants will be demonstrated commitment to student success, and the potential to teach and learn from others in the cohort.

The coaches will receive professional development, mentoring, resources, and tools and will have opportunities to participate in peer learning and engagement activities over a year long-period beginning in the first quarter of 2019. Professional development will be provided through a combination of online and hybrid courses, and highly interactive in-person instruction and practice. The in-person training will take place on March 26-27, 2019 in Indianapolis, IN. The Collaborative will cover the travel and related costs for applicants selected to participate in the in-person training.

Coaches who complete the professional development program will be identified in a registry accessible to colleges engaging in pathways work.
