A number of our Holistic Student Supports and Teaching and Learning leaders are participating as presenters and attendees at Association of American Colleges & Universities annual meeting, Raising our Voices: Reclaiming the Narrative on the Value of Higher Education, as well as the POD/AACU Organizational Development Institute, Developing Educational Development: Guidelines for Creating or Re-vitalizing a CTL, held in conjunction with AAC&U’s 2019 Annual Meeting.

National Student Clearinghouse

Our Vice President for Data, Analytics, and Technology is attending meetings at the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC), a convening of the NSC Postsecondary Data Partnership, a nationwide effort to help colleges and universities gain a fuller picture of student progress and outcomes, meet various reporting requirements, and identify where to focus their resources increase student success.

Our Holistic Student Supports leaders are also participating in meetings at the Michigan Financial Stability Summit and the Advising Student Network.

Developing a Single-Minded Focus on Equity

We designed this unique interactive day-long institute during the first day of our annual convening, DREAM. College teams will engage in learning opportunities and activities to develop a deeper understanding of what equity means, what it looks like in practice and how it is manifested or stifled on their campuses. They will engage in conversations around equity challenges impeding the success of their students and brainstorm practical solutions that empower all members of the college community. ATD Teaching & Learning Summit: Building a Culture of Teaching Excellence for Student Success: May 30 – June 1, 2019 in Minneapolis, MN

ATD’s Teaching & Learning Summit will strengthen the role of Centers for Teaching and Learning and empower faculty as leaders in addressing issues of student access, achievement, persistence, completion, and equity in teaching and learning. Teams composed of faculty members, academic affairs administrators, faculty developers and Center for Teaching & Learning directors will engage with experts in teaching and learning, coaches, and practitioners from ATD colleges as they devise action plans to bolster their institution’s teaching and learning capacity and expand the use of evidence-based classroom techniques. The Summit program will feature multiple focused tracks, including one on implementation of Open Educational Resources.  Colleges that choose this track will learn about the role of OER in fostering open pedagogy and how best to integrate the use of OER in broader institutional student success strategies. Check our website soon for details.
