2021 DREAM Fellowship gives NC State graduate students unique opportunity to engage in topics impacting community college leaders

Now in its fourth year, the DREAM Fellows program brings a select group of graduate students, all mid-career professionals employed at community colleges in North Carolina, to ATD’s national convening, DREAM, where they provide valuable feedback about the sessions they attend, focused upon the themes of this year’s DREAM.

The Fellows program is a partnership with Achieving the Dream and the Belk Center Community College Leadership doctoral program at North Carolina State University. In attending this year’s virtual convening, the Fellows will interact with those in the community college sector and receive an immersive experience in the topics impacting today’s leaders, as well as the challenges that they will face in the future.

Each Fellow attends a selected schedule of presentations, providing ATD with in-depth feedback about the extent to which relevant challenges, issues, and solutions were discussed. In this year’s virtual programming, Fellows will also monitor plenary sessions during the virtual conference for meaningful interactions in the webinar chat.

The Belk Center selected 10 DREAM Fellows for 2021. They are:

  • Gene Deese, Technology Support Analyst, University of North Carolina at Pembroke
  • James Hogan, VP for Advancement, Mitchell Community College
