Dr. Ruanda Garth-McCullough

Dr. Ruanda Garth-McCullough, the Director of Program Development at Achieving the Dream, leads the Every Learner Everywhere digital learning initiative that serves low-income, racially minoritized, and first-generation students in gateway courses, develops and delivers faculty development coaching for student success and high-quality teaching and learning and supports the organization's equity initiatives. Ruanda also coaches college action teams to implement evidence-based teaching practices across the college and curriculum.

Previously, Ruanda was a faculty member in the School of Education at Loyola University of Chicago.  Her expertise in culturally relevant teaching guides her professional development work in the diversity, equity and inclusion space. Ruanda approaches her work from an inclusive, culturally affirming and asset-based perspective. Ruanda supports educators to define and create opportunities to invite and integrate their students’ cultural knowledge and experiences as a cognitive tool in service of their engagement, achievement, and success.

Ruanda earned her doctorate in Administrative Institutional Policy Studies/Urban Education from the University of Chicago. She also received her MA from University of Chicago and her BA in Psychology and African American Studies from Wesleyan University.
