C. Ryan Knight

Ryan Knight is Associate Director of Network Recruitment and Retention at Achieving the Dream, Inc. In this role, Ryan organizes ATD’s recruitment, support, and retention efforts with ATD colleges. He also coordinates logistics and learning opportunities at ATD’s DREAM and Kickoff Institute conferences.

Ryan began his career teaching at Randolph Community College in Asheboro, NC. For over five years he taught composition, literature, and college success courses to hundreds of students, while also serving as a faculty advisor and on numerous committees. Ryan has also worked as Lead Program Associate for Envisioning Excellence for Community College Leadership, an initiative funded by the John M. Belk Endowment. Through Envisioning Excellence, NC State re-aligned its education doctorate program in Community College Leadership to today’s essential presidential competencies and expanded professional development. Ryan worked on the grant leadership team and helped secure 10.8 million dollars in additional grant funding to continue NC State’s efforts to serve the North Carolina’s community colleges. The grant paved the way for launching the Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research, which is integrating executives throughout NC State’s education doctorate program, launching executive development for presidents and trustees, and conducting action-based research that addresses and proposes solutions to problems of practice.

Ryan is working on a Ph.D. in Adult, Workforce, & Continuing Professional Education at NC State University. He also holds an MA and BA in English.
