Laurie Heacock

Laurie T. Heacock is a Data Coach and Senior Advisor, Data and Analytics at Achieving the Dream, Inc. In this role, Laurie is responsible for building data and technology capacity at network colleges and at ATD headquarters, managing the research agreement with the National Student Clearinghouse, working with partner organizations on postsecondary metric alignment, leading coaching, leading the roll out and adoption of the Institutional Capacity Assessment Tool, recruiting new colleges, managing ATD Connect, and serving as the executive sponsor of Achieving the Dream’s Integrated Planning and Advising for Student Success and digital learning-related funded learning initiates.

Laurie previously served as the Director of Data Innovation for Achieving the Dream, managing the design, delivery, and evaluation of data services for Achieving the Dream Institutions. A former Data Coach, Laurie served six Achieving the Dream Institutions located throughout six states: Alabama, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas.

Laurie has three decades of community college experience, including high caliber professional experience in institutional research, information technology, academic advising and instruction. She began her career at the College of Southern Maryland working in institutional research and as an adjunct faculty member. She spent 18 years of her professional career at Anne Arundel Community College, an Achieving the Dream Network institution, where she worked in institutional research, applied research, information technology and academic advising. She served as the District Director of Institutional Research at Broward College, an Achieving the Dream Leader College and a 2013 top ten finalist of the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.   She also served for several years as a course mentor for the Association for Institutional Research Data and Decision Academy.

Laurie holds a B.S. and M.A. in Psychology from James Madison University and has completed the coursework and comprehensive examinations for a doctoral degree in Policy Sciences with a concentration in evaluation research from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
