Dr. Yash Morimoto

Dr. Yash Morimoto loves transforming the lives of students through data, people, and strategic planning. Through his leadership, he has successfully developed a culture of evidence and strategic planning at Santa Fe Community College (SFCC). Thanks to the collaborative effort, the institution has been able to double its graduation rates in three years and double the number of awards and certificate in five years. At the same time the college was able to ensure that Hispanic students and low-income students outperform the rest.
Yash is deeply committed on the issue of Equity and believes that success at the community college does not have to be at the expense of access. He also has an extensive experience in Higher Education budgeting, economic development, and community partnership both at the statewide and local level.
He oversees the colleges’ strategic planning, institutional research, academic program reviews, learning assessments, accreditation, grants, and institutional review board functions.
Prior to joining SFCC in 2011, he worked at the New Mexico Higher Education Department providing data analysis, legislative policy reviews, and contributed to enhancing data sharing across the state’s college and university and K-12 public education systems.
Yash is a 2018 Aspen Rising Presidential Fellow, holds a Ph.D in Higher Education Leadership from New Mexico State University, Master’s in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico, and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Earlham College.
